Gradations of Time over a Plane
Gradations of Time over a Plane is an open-ended project which focuses on the study and reflection about Time, both as a symbolic dimension of reality and also as an abstract concept relating to something which is non-material and that “precedes materiality”.
Guided by these notions we’ve set out, since the Spring of 2010, to film and work in various locations during different periods of observation, documentation, testing and intervention, looking for situations and places which reveal different temporalities.
This project is being constituted in chapters, reflections and articulations from the experience given by the field work and the various materials collected during those moments. These chapters (currently 21, in various formats), correspond to various perceptions of the fluid nature of time and the interpretation of those ideas in relation to particular environments, cultural fabrications or induced fictional assemblages.
In order to develop an internal mapping of the work a particular pictograph is devised for each chapter. The resulting expanding alphabet is intended as a self relational language provoking new relations between the several parts of Gradations of Time over a Plane.
